To help achieve thier target in CO2 emmisions, the governement introduced an incentive scheme to encourage energy efficiency, called the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA). Under this scheme, managed by the Carbon Trust, business users can claim 100% tax relief on new energy efficient equipment puchases that meet specified criteria. This scheme has since been replaced by AIA (Annual Investment Allowance). The scheme enables businesses to claim tax benefits for air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
